Day in the Life of Nosiphiwo Mzimba
@beautifulgatesa

Nosiphiwo works at the Crossroads cafe at Beautiful Gate South Africa, she assists the chef and the serves at the cafe. Nosiphiwo is from Crossroads community, because she prepares and serves her food with a smile and with lots of love , it makes her very special And this is his typical day:

Before 8:00 a.m.
I need to get ready for work and prepare things for my son as well but i always make him breakfast at home so its maize meal porridge. I also accompany my son to his transport to take him to school.
My son is only 3 years old so he wakes up early  as well.

8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m –
I walk to work and since i am the first person in the kitchen to arrive i open up and immediately start preparing dough to make vetkoeks (literally meaning fat cake , its dough fried bread).

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. –
This time i am already making other things to go with the vetkoek so its busy because i have to make vetkoeks and serve people as well.

12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. –
At 13h00 i'm already serving people and people are already standing in line calling my name so that they can get served. I also get special orders so i must have that in mind as well while serving other customers.

2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Cleaning normally starts at after 3pm and sometimes i need to assist the chef with preparing things for another event that needs catering.

After 4:00 p.m. –
When i get home late at about 17h30 i need to get my son from school and make dinner  for us.

    Crossroads Child

    Welcome to a window into the lives and issues facing children in the Crossroads community on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa. Most of these stories centre around the children and families we work with at Beautiful Gate South Africa, a Christian non-profit organisation whose mission is to show God's love as we care for and protect children, empower and preserve families and mobilise our community to do the same.
