Education Programme
Why Education?
Throughout South Africa, primary school learners are struggling to gain proficiency in critical subjects of English, Maths and Science. Without a good foundation, a barrier is created to learning and future academic and economic opportunities become limited, especially for children who speak English as their second or third language. High school learners are therefore avoiding selecting these critical subjects, while others are dropping out of the school system before they matriculate. Those that do finish matric struggle to find meaningful employment.
Our Three Education Pillars
Meet Luvo
Luvo spent his childhood being passed on from one family member to another after his parents passed away. His tough upbringing propelled him to work hard at school in hopes of securing a bright future. He also decided to join the our after school programme where he surrounded himself with young, like-minded people who encouraged each other in their learning ventures. In 2017, all his hard work paid off! Luvo passed his Matric with 5 distinctions! He got A’s for Maths Literacy, Accounting, Life Sciences, Economics and Business Studies. His achievements were rewarded with a bursary from Standard Bank, created to help Orphaned and Vulnerable children further their studies. |
Luvo is now enrolled at the University of the Western Cape, pursuing a degree in BCom Accounting. He was also fortunate enough to get accommodation at the university, which is great considering that his housing situation has not been ideal.
Luvo is now giving back to other young people as one of our Accounting and Economics tutors.
