Ntombozuko Ndabambi
Learner Education Support Tutor Ntombozuko also known as Nohnahna 22-year-old from Phillippi. She has been with Beautiful Gate for the past 3 years. Ntombozuko started off as a life skills youth facilitator at the Phillippi container branch/site, during her time at the container/site she has built relationships with the youth who are now part of the academic support. With the Learner Education Support program she tutors Grade 6 and 7 supporting them with Mathematics and English. It was a big change for her from being a life skills facilitator, facilitating youth to working with children. Ntombozuko says “I had to learn how to work with children who are in school as well as learning their subjects and how to engage with them”. Because reading skills are part of the tutoring, as a tutor you must read stories for children as well. It’s a fun job says Ntombozuko because she went to the same primary school as the children and she is close with their teachers as well, in terms of support teachers are with her. She also facilitates dance for the children as an extra mural activity and ice breakers for them before class. One of her favorite quotes is “Be the change you want to be” Ntombozuko wants to go back to school and study something related to children, either teaching or child psychology.

Crossroads ChildWelcome to a window into the lives and issues facing children in the Crossroads community on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa. Most of these stories centre around the children and families we work with at Beautiful Gate South Africa, a Christian non-profit organisation whose mission is to show God's love as we care for and protect children, empower and preserve families and mobilise our community to do the same.
